Three Off-beat Healthy Sprouts

Sprouts come in many varieites. The most common of them is the mixed sprouts, which usually contains a blend of three or four different varieties. However apart from mixed sprouts, there are other varities, each having their own unique benefits. In this article, I’ll talk about three lesser known but very beneficial types of sprouts.

Wheat Sprouts a.k.a Sprouted Wheat Berries


Wheat is the most common grain consumed on earth.  As a sprout wheat is very nutritious and help in preventing varied heart diseases.It contains Vitamins B, C and E and is rich in Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Pantothenic Acid, Phosphorus Amino Acids. Protein content is 15%.

 Sunflower Sprouts

Sunflower greens are a tender baby vegetable, high in chlorophyll, and a substitute for lettuce. They are rich in chlorophyll, enzymes, vitamins, protein. In traditional Indian medicine known as Ayurveda, sunflower sprout is believed to clear the lungs and prevent against cough and cold because it has “life force”.It contains Vitamins A, B, C and E, high in Calcium, Chlorophyll, Iron, Magnesium, Niacin, Phosphorus, Potassium Amino Acids. Protein content is 20%.

Radish Sprouts

Radish Sprouts are basically germinated radish seeds and are very high in nutritional value.It contains Vitamins A, B, C, E and K and is high in Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Zinc Amino Acids, Carotene, Chlorophyll and Antioxidants. Protein content is 30%.
