Seven Ways to Make your Day Good

Every day may not be good but there  is something good in every day.
This is an old saying whose truth I  discovered some 2 years back after reading the autobiography of Benjamin
Franklin. His life story is very inspirational to say the least.
To be truly productive and to lead a  meaningful life, we must be positive and up-beat all the time. But how do we remain upbeat all the time?

We can do that by taking small steps, one step at  a time. If every day is good, then our life is automatically good.I do quite a few things to try to keep myself positive all the time. Some of them work, some do not, but I keep trying all the same. Here are my seven ways to make your day good.

  1. Wake up early everyday and enjoy the peace and silence.
Meditate in silence and serenity. Silence has a sound of its own and the Sound of Silence is very powerful and inspirational.
  1. Read a good book or an inspirational quote first thing  in the morning. I read:

There is nothing like a dose of positivity early in the morning to boost your day.
  1. Do not read newspapers in the mornings. Newspapers  carry negative news, and will spoil your mood and day. I prefer reading  the newspapers in the evening after my day job.
  1. During work, take a break once in a while and go for a walk. Walking  briskly releases chemicals in the brain which makes one happier.
  1. Have light food like sprouts for brunch if you are  hungry. Avoid oily food for lunch. I have mixed masala sprouts around 11:00 AM every morning. Do have your lunch on time.
  1. When you chat with your friends, make it a point NOT to  discuss your work. Discuss anything else. Taking short breaks during work  is also recommended for good health.
  1. Put inspirational quotes stickers on your desk, near  your bed, on the fridge and any other place, to remind you to remain  positive. At my office desk, I have a sticker with an inspirational quote from Swami Vivekananda, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”

With these small simple steps one can have a good day. Small steps can lead to  a sea change.

To me it seems very practical in its seemingly–or perhaps, apparently–holistic tendency of helping the readers live a naturally productive life. What is so important about this article is its very simplistic approach that calls for a logical enumeration of notions that perforce urge upon us to think and re-think, consider and re-consider, perhaps, many more times plainly because of the sweetness of 'light' they all are imbued with. Well done!! And thank you for the 'torch that dethrones darkness'…

Thank you for the thoughful comment and kind words Suman. I have enumerated only those steps which I myself have/ would have followed. In fact, qulaity of my life changed drastically after I stopped reading newspapers in the mornings. Again, Swami Vivekananda's books are my constant companion – his words are an ocean of inspiration and motivation and keep me motivated. Thanks again for the comment.
